1866-1883 Shield Nickel 5-Cent Coin
The Shield Nickel is over 140 years old. It is rarely seen today. The design was produced for less than 20 years. It's the first first United States five-cent piece to be made out of copper-nickel, the same alloy of which American nickels are struck today, and it was produced at the same time as the silver Half Dime until the Mint Act of 1873 ended the production of the silver Half Dime. Enjoy this piece of history. Get yours today.

What You Get

  • 1866 - 1883 Shield nickel
  • Black velvet metal box
  • Certificate of authenticity

Good to Know

Seals and cases contribute to the value of the coin and currency collectibles and must remain intact and unbroken.
